Enjoy a week full of Color themed toddler activities! This is a really fun  weekly activity guide and a great way to teach and explore the seasons.

Each day we have a book to read (or a read aloud to watch if you don't have a copy, a song or dance to enjoy and 2-3 themed activities.

Colors Day 1

Book: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

We have to start color week with this classic book!

Craft - Butterfly Painting

This classic toddler painting activity is a great way to explore colors. I find that this is a popular activity so you might need to stock up on paper! Toddlers LOVE seeing how the colors mix! See the full instructions HERE.

Sensory Play - Color Changing Water Play

Play a game of I Spy but with colors!

  • I spy something yellow
  • I spy something blue

Book: A Color of His Own

Color Sorting Game - FREE PRINTABLE

Get your copy of our FREE printable color sorting game. Print out the pictures and then sort them into colors. To make it easier start with only 2 colors then add in more to make it challenging.

Go on a Color Scavenger Hunt!

Pick a color and go on a scavenger hunt around your house to find as many items of that color as you can!

A great book to explore what happens when you mix primary colors.

Sing and dance while you explore the colors of the rainbow.

Sensory Play - Color Sorting Eggs

If you've ever wondered what to do with those colored plastic Easter eggs this is a great idea! Put them into a sensory bin and sort them by colors. You could do this with large pom poms or colored balls too.

Colors Day 4

Book: Elmer

This is the original in the series about Elmer the patchwork elephant - it's a great story about acceptance as well as colors.

Sensory Play - Fizzing Colored Sensory Bin

This is another really fun one - I've yet to find a toddler that doesn't love watching the colors fizz when they add the vinegar! See the full instructions HERE.

Activity - Sorting Blocks by Color

Lori shared this activity with us - simple to make and you can then 'post' your blocks into the right color! You could make a smaller one using pom poms.

Sensory Play - Colored Pasta Sensory Bin

Don't run away yet! It's easier than you think to dye your pasta - you can see how to make it HERE. Once you've made your pasta it lasts for a really long time if you store it in an airtight container.

Craft - Painting with Rollers

Let's keep the painting simple today and set up some colored paint and rollers (you use get small paint rollers from hardware stores or buy craft versions HERE).

This is a great chance to explore what happens when you mix the colors too.
